Course Description:


This will be an interesting and challenging course in World Cultures. We first will examine what culture is generally. Then we will adventure to a variety of regions to explore geography, history and culture. Through our explorations, you will further develop your study and thinking skills, and will continue to take charge of your learning. Moreover, you actively will be engaged with your learning process through such activities as group discussions, writing assignments, presentations and debates.

As your teacher, my overriding objective is to make this an interesting and fun class that challenges you to think in new ways, that encourages a love of learning and a love of social studies, and that fosters a classroom community of mutual respect.

Unit 1 - Introduction
Unit 2 - The Middle East
Unit 3 - China
Unit 4 - Research Paper
Unit 5 - India
Unit 6 - Africa

Materials needed for the course:

  1. Notebook or Binder- Do not combine this notebook with another classes
  2. Folder
  3. Color Pencils
  4. Bring your COVERED textbook (I will let you know when you will need them in class)

During the semester your grade will be based off of:

  5. Test/Quizzes
  6. Class Participation
